SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Bulk handling, or the efficient management of loose materials, perfectly aligns with the principles of circularity and, for CEPI, represents much more than just a technical component of food production. It is a strategic element that allows us to combine technological innovation, production efficiency, and environmental awareness, making a concrete contribution to the transition to more sustainable industrial models.

Through bulk handling, companies have the opportunity to adopt more responsible practices, optimizing processes and reducing waste and impacts throughout the supply chain.
In this way, CEPI not only improves productivity but also creates economic and environmental value, demonstrating how sustainability can become a true competitive advantage.

REVAMPING

STRENGTHS

Revamping is one of our key strengths. This activity allows us to breathe new life into existing systems, significantly extending their lifespan and maintaining their efficiency over time. Through revamping, we are able to update and optimize systems that would otherwise be decommissioned, adapting them to new production and technological needs. This process allows us to indefinitely extend the useful life of systems, with some systems continuing to function effectively even 30 years after their construction.

Our approach to revamping is based on an in-depth analysis of the production process and involves all our departments, from technical design to marketing. This allows us to consider every aspect of the plant organically and integrate it with the latest innovations. In this way, we ensure that the plants remain flexible and ready for future challenges, contributing to a sustainable and circular economy model.

CIRCULARITY

Circularity is one of the cornerstones of our production. To measure it objectively, we commissioned a study using the Ellen MacArthur Foundation method, an international benchmark for the circular economy. Our Circularity Index currently stands at 0.7 out of 1, a high score achieved despite the challenges in 2022 related to the availability of recycled steel. We carefully managed our supply chain and, in the following years, increased the use of recycled materials and optimized waste recovery. Today our systems are:
  • 83% of materials can be reused
  • 15% is destined for recycling
  • Only 2% ends up in landfill
  • 84% is the overall recycling efficiency
The turnkey approach, modular design, and systemic vision ensure long-lasting (average 30-year lifespan) and sustainable systems. Our design takes into account how each element influences the others: a comprehensive, flexible model designed to adapt over time.

STRONG RELATIONSHIPS

Our supply chain management is based on strong and transparent relationships with local and global suppliers, whom we engage in sharing our high standards of quality and sustainability. We did so in 2024, focusing on gender equality. This approach allows us to ensure maximum efficiency and traceability at every stage of the production process, from raw material sourcing to finished product delivery.

We are constantly working to improve the resilience and flexibility of our supply chain, ensuring it can adapt quickly to market changes and new customer needs.

Transparency is a cornerstone of our supply chain. We are committed to providing our customers with clear and detailed information on every stage of the production process: an approach that allows us to build trust and lasting partnerships with all our stakeholders.

STEEL
SUPPLY CHAIN

Steel is the heart of CEPI production: a material chosen for its strength, versatility, and high recyclability. In our plants we mainly use AISI 304 stainless steel, an alloy that maintains high mechanical and chemical performance, and can be remelted several times without losing quality. But sustainability isn’t limited to materials: it involves the entire supply chain management. A study conducted by a graduate student at the University of Bologna analyzed the CEPI circular approach, using tools such as:
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Analysis
  • Analysis of production processes and waste recovery
  • Calculation of the MCI (Material Circularity Indicator, Ellen MacArthur Foundation method)
  • Market research on suppliers and supply chain
In 2022, a challenging year for the steel industry, 40% of CEPI steel was recycled. Market instability has prompted us to diversify our suppliers, including Asian steel mills with a lower percentage of recycled material than their European counterparts. Despite the critical issues, the CEPI Circularity Index already stood at 0.75. With the return to European supplies and the optimization of waste recovery, the score is expected to improve further.

CERTIFICATIONS

OUR CERTIFICATIONS

We manufacture and supply protection systems compliant with EN ISO 80079-36:2016, EN ISO 80079-37:2016, and EN 15089:2009, which guarantee isolation against the spread of explosions and fires and comply with the ATEX Directive.

AIR FILTRATION SYSTEMS

We design and supply multiple high-efficiency dynamic dust collectors and static filters and other air treatment solutions specifically designed for the food and chemical industries.

WELDED STRUCTURES

We design and manufacture welded steel structures in compliance with the EN 1090-1:2012 – EN 1090-2:2018 standard.
